STYKO set to donate 20% of this sticker money in the support of young players' mental health
The Slovakian player aims to raise awareness about an important issue to prevent future tragedies from occurring.
The mental health and well-being of young players in esports.
A topic, veteran player Martin STYKO” Styk believes is an overlooked issue in the scene right now. Something, he explains in a post on X this Wednesday.
STYKO writes:
- Chasing trophies and wins in life is respectable, but it is never an easy path. Managing a well-being and mental health of young players is put aside in vision of pushing themselves to pursue their careers. Sometimes, that backfires. And once it does, it is too late.
Donating a big portion of his sticker money
In his post, STYKO mentions the tragic deaths of the young esports players David 'cynic' Polster and Karel "Twisten" Ašenbrener. Two individuals who both struggled with mental health.
To show awareness and support, the Apeks player has announced that he will donate 20% of his own sticker money earned at PGL Major Copenahagen.
- We need to avoid these tragedies, STYKO explains.
- I'm donating 10% of my personal sticker revenue to cyn1c's family to help them cope with unimaginable loss. The other 10% goes to Twisten foundation, created by Twisten's family in order to help teenagers with mental health battles.
