NEO: Betting in esports is an issue
In an interview with Pley.gg, the Polish head coach of FaZe expressed his concerns regarding underage betting occurring in esports through unregulated platforms.
During Friday night's Quarter-Final between G2 and MOUZ at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen the match was briefly disrupted by stage invaders. Although none of the players sustained injuries, the incident underscored the unnecessary risks faced by players and staff due to inadequate security measures around the stage, according to FaZe coach Filip "NEO" Kubski.
- When you look at it, it’s good that it happened in this kind of way. Now people will realize that things like that might happen, and now we going to be more ready for that. I feel like we were just lucky that nothing serious happened on that day. I mean, serious stuff happened, but nothing extremely bad happened. We live in different times, and we have to be aware of stuff like that, and the preparation has to be better for the next time.
The former Virtus.pro player have been around the CS scene since the start of this century and have seen how the game has developed with everything that follows including the betting scene, which has exploded since the introduction of skins to the game, which can be used on several skin-betting sites to gamble.
- Betting in esports is an issue. So maybe thanks to what happened there is going to be some looking into that. Betting is everywhere, and when it happens with underage people, which happens, I think it’s an issue, and hopefully, there is going to be more spotlight and people will pay more attention to that fact, NEO told Pley.gg in an interview after FaZe’s win in the Semi-Final.
