karrigan asserts: We are still the team to beat

At the newly-concluded IEM Katowice, FaZe got sent home from the title-deciding match with an appalling 0-3 defeat against the prodigy Danil “donk” Kryshkovets and Spirit.
But if you ask FaZe captain Finn “karrigan” Andersen they are still the team to beat.
Something he made clear when he spoke to James Banks before the start of this week’s Europe RMR A.
- Since CS2 came out we have been in every single Grand Final, and I think something that we’ve been really good at is being consistently good. We just need to find the final ingredient to kind of close it out. I look at finals separately from each other, and I think [at IEM Katowice] Spirit were just destined to win. It will be very hard to replicate that, but we will have to wait and see how they do.
-In my opinion, winning three out of six event – if you count online as well – I think that shows a consistent high level. Being number one - even though we lost that way [0-3 vs Spirit] - we are still the team to beat in some way, even though Spirit is a hot team right now.
- I’m very proud of how consistently good we can be in CS2 and how many Bo3s we have won. I definitely did not imagine this when CS2 came out. Obviously, you want to win the big tournaments, so ranked number one but not winning is not always fun – but I’ll take it, karrigan said to Banks.
Spirit catching up
As karrigan said, FaZe is still on top of the world ranking after their phenomenal start in CS2, where they have won IEM Sydney, Thunderpick World Championship, CS Asia Championships, including three silver medals at BLAST Fall Final and BLAST World Final and lastly IEM Katowice.
But FaZe are not the only ones having success at the moment with the Russians from Spirit slowly catching up on karrigan and company. They are now ranked third on HLTV’s world ranking following their LAN victories at BetBoom Dacha and IEM Katowice.
