Introducing: acoR – The new device?

From aspiring car mechanic to professional esports player, Frederik “acoR” Gyldstrand is a rising star in CS:GO.

In today’s era of Counter-Strike, potential prodigies are scouted from their early teen years and are already in their country’s best teams with a dozen of Big events played and a couple of trophies in the cabinet. But that wasn’t the case for acoR who faced more sort of a late bloom in his career.

The story of acoR we know today, truly began when he was transitioned from a supportive player into a consistent and exciting main AWPer in Tricked.

“We had our working hours and our demo reviews to create a strong AWP player. He had a hard time in the beginning; let’s be honest, he had a hard time for the first four months. But after a good period of practice and too many demos watched, he finally started to create his own AWP style. When that happened, he started to shine and became the star player of the team.” HUNDEN said in an interview with HLTV.org.

acoR began to get onto people’s radar as a 22-year-old at MAD Lions where he averaged a 1.14 rating in 2020 and helped the team to win Flashpoint 1 and to become ever-present in the Top 15 in the world rankings of 2020.

When acoR came up as a rising talent, a lot of people probably thought he was going to be a flash in the pan, but actually turned out to be one of the rare people who managed to combine the benefits of both ends of the spectrum. He fires very quickly and doesn’t do a lot of conservative play, but his hit rate is very high and that isn’t typically whatever causes problems, the firing speed. So as a result, he’s basically been able to go from being an up-and-coming player to pretty much just skipping to almost the top of his field already, even though his teams haven’t been at that level proportionally.

“Confidence is a really big part of Counter-Strike, you play against a really good player, like a player that you’ve been looking up to for years, and you’ve been watching him play, or another team play, and then you actually play against them one time and you do good, or decent, and better than your own expectation. That’s going to gain you a lot of confidence and belief that you can actually do it.” - acoR

Biggest achievement

acoR’s biggest achievement in his career so far was when MAD Lions came back from a map down to beat MIBR and win Flashpoint 1 in 2020. MAD Lions secured the Flashpoint title and a $500.000 cheque. The 23-year-old AWPer was a solid performer for the Danish squad in the grand final and averaged a 1.12 rating throughout the tournament in 28 maps.

Debut for mousesports

The German organization announced their new signing in the Danish AWPer in January and stated that acoR will be replacing their iconic Dutchman Chris “chrisJ” de Jong, who is the longest-serving player of mousesports, having joined the organization in October 2013.

The match against FaZe in cs_summit 7 marked the 23-year-old Danes’ debut. Whilst acoR was far from the best performing player on the server, he seemed comfortable in the roster and showed glimpses of what he is capable of.
