Four-time Major winner Xyp9x retires; lands coaching job at MOUZ
One of the most accolated players in Counter-Strike history has decided to hang up his mouse.
Former Astralis rifler Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth has announced the retirement of his playing career, which saw him win no less than 24 notable tournament victories, including four Majors.
Xyp9x already has his future set with the 28-year-old Dane having been announced as MOUZ’ new assistant coach this Saturday. And the personal goal for the Clutch Minister is clear:
“I want to be the world’s best coach,” Xyp9x stated on Twitter following today’s news.
A new start and a “no-brainer”
In MOUZ, Xyp9x is set to take up the assistant role to the super-successful and fellow Dane Dennis “sycrone” Nielsen, who’s been the head coach since January 2022. The decision to join the German organization was not a tough call to make, Xyp9x explains.
- The MOUZ project was a no-brainer for me after much consideration; I see huge potential in that team where I believe I can make a difference.
- I want to be the world's best coach, but I always set intermediate goals. I'm aware of my strengths and, most importantly, weaknesses. The role of coaching is a new world, and it motivates me incredibly to work on optimizing performance and dive into strats, data, and team dynamics.
