Vitality has said goodbye to their successful head coach Danny “zonic” Sørensen this fall, with the five-time Major winner having signed a deal with Falcons. Here zonic will spearhead Falcons’ new Counter-Strike project – reportedly together with the former Vitality member Emil “Magisk” Reif as well.

Before the start of BLAST Fall Final in Copenhagen, we spoke with the Vitality captain and IGL Dan “apEX” Madesclaire about the departure of zonic.

- At first, it was a really big disappointment when you have built something that has been really hard to build. We had a rough year and we’ve working our ass off to make it work, so of course it’s tough. Esports and CS move fast so you don’t have time to cry and be sad, you have to move on that’s what I did.

A good thing for the Counter-Strike industry 

In the interview with the French veteran, we also asked him about his thoughts on Falcons. Here, apEX expressed an optimistic view on the matter saying that it will have a positive impact on the Counter-Strike world.

- Of course, Falcons and Saudi Arabia have a lot of money, and they want to invest in esports. So, we knew that they would come in and have a lot of money. For me, I expect them to have such a strong project when they have such players and coaching staff, with Lars [Lars Robl], our old performance coach, apEX says and continues:

- I really enjoyed working with the Danes for two years and I have such good memories. I wish them just the best and I’m pretty sure they’re going to grab the right players to make it work.

What is your take if Falcons go out and splash their money and get this super team?

- Well, we are in a world where money wins. And they have money so that’s how it is. What can I say? I will not spit on it or whatever. They have money and want to spend it in the industry, which is good. It’s also good that such big countries invest in esports so it’s going to grow and it can only be better. So yeah, I’m just happy for the industry overall.
